A Facility Built for Speed and Scale
Dude Perfect may have started as a group of college friends filming basketball trick shots, but today, the brand commands more than 60 million YouTube subscribers and a multi-million-dollar private equity investment. With its rising content volume and professionalized operations, the team needed an AV infrastructure that could support a fast-paced production workflow, while staying flexible and scalable for future growth.
Its new 80,000-square-foot headquarters in Frisco, Texas, includes a full-size basketball court, football field, golf simulator, editing suites, conference rooms and multiple lounge areas. All are interconnected through a high-performance AV system. The challenge was clear – build a centralized AV backbone that could deliver 4K video and multichannel audio with minimal latency and maximum routing flexibility.
To bring this vision to life, Dude Perfect partnered with Texas-based integrator Clear ProAV, which centered the system design on an AV-over-IP architecture powered by ZeeVee by Kramer’s ZyPer4K-XS platform.
Designing an IP-First AV Backbone
At the core of the system is the ZyPer4K-XS platform, which delivers uncompressed 4K video over a 10Gb network. The distributed architecture replaces traditional matrix switchers. Each encoder and decoder act as a node on the network, making it easy to route signals between sources and displays without latency or degradation.
The network design includes:
- 30 ZeeVee ZyPer4K-XS Encoders
- 39 ZeeVee ZyPer4K-XS Decoders (both copper and fiber models)
- Two ZMP Servers for centralized management and redundancy
- Netgear AV switches, including models from the M4500, M4350 and M4250 series
The IP-based structure allows video from any source—including editing bays, Apple TVs, multiview processors and media players—to be distributed instantly to Samsung displays across the facility.
Flexible Audio Distribution with Dante
While video takes center stage, the audio system is equally sophisticated. More than 250 channels of Dante audio are routed throughout the space, allowing for independent zone control and synchronized playback during live filming, editing sessions or content reviews. Key zones include basketball court and indoor football field, golf simulator and workout areas, lounge and content collaboration spaces and dozens of Samsung flat-panel displays and LED walls.
ZyPer4K-XS’s native Dante support was a key factor. It enabled Clear ProAV to decouple audio from video and route it independently. This ensured that sound could be managed flexibly, whether for background music, production monitoring or live playback. The system also includes QSC Core 610 for centralized DSP, Extron IPCP 255Qxi processors for AV system control and MuxLab Bluetooth modules, Yamaha media players and Apple TV 4Ks across rooms.
Content-Centric Workflow Enhancements
The AV system wasn’t just designed for distribution. It was engineered to enhance workflow and help Dude Perfect’s production team create faster and collaborate more easily.
Each edit bay is connected to the network via a ZeeVee by Kramer encoder. Editors can push content to any screen in real time. This eliminates the need to export and transfer large files just to preview them on a lounge TV or LED wall.
Clear ProAV designed the system to support multiview outputs using the ZeeVee by Kramer decoders and central ZMP server. This reduced the need for additional multiview hardware and simplified camera monitoring and production review workflows.
With an IP-based approach, new displays, input sources, or zones can be added with minimal disruption. Every signal, whether from an Apple TV, signage player or security multiview feed, can be routed on demand.
The combination of Extron and QSC systems allows for flexible, user-friendly control across the entire campus. Presets can be created for different filming modes, and users can switch layouts or audio feeds from intuitive interfaces.
Planning for the Future
The current facility is only phase one. Dude Perfect is now developing an adjacent virtual production studio featuring a massive Samsung wrap-around LED screen. Thanks to the system’s scalable infrastructure, content and signal routing between buildings will be seamless.
